Bloggers and Instagrammers Gathering in Pick & Pay, Bundusan Pavillion, KK City

A couple of weeks ago, we had a small gathering in Pick & Pay located in Bundusan Pavillion. It was a gathering for Bloggers and Instagrammers for the first time. 
We even got a chance to try out the new menu they have in Pick & Pay.

Fresh fruit juice, yoghurt drinks and loads of freshly packed fruits ready for you if you're always on the go.

They now have pastas too! 
I love the Carbonara one. Not too salty or creamy.

According to the chef, the chicken stock was boiled up to at least 8 hours. They don't only serve Carbonana Chicken Spaghetti but also Beef Bolognese and Salmon Spaghetti.

I also heard that every Saturday, they have a salmon cutting session.

New home & a new bedroom!

Hey y'all!
Here is the reason why I have been MIA-ing a lot.
My family and I have been busy with moving and renovating our new home.

Months ago, there were so much of moving and packing to do.
These past few years we have been renting and moving around a lot and trust me, its not fun at all.
After we got the news from my mum that we finally found a new home, I was super excited that I went on pinterest to search for new bedroom inspired ideas. After moving around with the family for years and now we have finally settled down in our new home!

I'm already missing my old room but hey, time for a bigger room!
This was too small and I had to cramp up everything while we were staying here.

Goodbye old bedroom.
Its time for someone else to stay here.

We moved slightly further down from where we stayed previously and luckily the moving part was not as tough as I thought it would be. Thanks to Roy,Vince, Jim and Tai for helping us out with the moving. Not forgetting Mary and Ah Chin for helping out as well. They even lend us their trucks to move everything.

I painted to room in this colour for a more cooling and cozy feeling and also easy to the eyes.Nothing too bright but just nice and relaxing. Something to help me with my sleep as well. Well, there you go. A glimpse of my new bedroom!

Health and Fitness : Overnight Oats (Banana Chiaseeds)

Hey guys!
I am trying out something new.
Most of you who knows me, I am not a cook or a baker but I am always ALL about healthy eating and being healthy. 
So I wanna try to share some healthy eating tips which I think can help you guys who are planning on eating clean and healthy or just for the sake of eating.

I have recently discovered the perfect recipe for breakfast and after trying it out,
I have never been happier to finally have something that is easy and quick to prepare.

Overnight Oats (Banana Chiaseeds)
1/3 cup of Rolled Oats (I used Instant Rolled Oats)
1/3 cup of Greek Yogurt 
1/3 cup of Milk (any milk of your choice)
1 Tbspn of Honey (any honey of your choice)
1 tspn of Chiaseeds
1 Ripe Banana

Combine all the ingredients in a mason jar or any type of container with an airtight lid. 
Mix everything together, pop the lid on, and place it in the fridge for 6-8 hours (or overnight).
Once its ready, enjoy with your favorite toppings and mix it all together! (muesli or mixed nuts are my favourite to go with this).

There you go! Simple as that!

Here are a few reasons why I love this receipe :

I am a huge fan of oats and not just just oats but only the Rolled and Steel cut ones.
Both of these oats have a much crunchier texture compared to the baby oats.
So if you are the type who likes a bit of texture in your food like I do, this is perfect for u.
Perfect for those has high cholesterol. The oats will absorb the fats and not only helping you to lower down your cholesterol but it also helps with weight loss.

Chia Seeds are like tiny sesame seeds.
Rich in fiber, protein, calcium, antioxidants, and omega-3.
I usually sprinkle these seeds on almost everything I eat such as salads, smoothies, noodles, oats, etc.. Basically you can eat this with anything you like. I also love making Overnight Chia Pudding with this. I will upload the recipe real soon.

I LOVE YOGURT! Not just any yogurt but Greek Yogurt!
Its has a slightly more thicker, richer and creamier texture compared to the regular yogurt.
Its slightly more sour AND is lower in sugar too. FYI, it cost a bit more compared to the regular yogurt. So if you know how to make yogurt at home, try searching for ways to make your own Greek yogurt. That will save you time and money.

Honey is one of the most important sweetener I must have in my life.
Naturally sweet and its delicious! I prefer to use honey over sugar because of its taste.
It goes well with also almost anything! I use it in my salad dressings and puddings as well.

Bananas are something that I can't live without. Rich in potassium, fiber and super delicious!
I don't know bout you guys but I am obsessed with bananas.
I usually eat about 4-6 bananas in a day and if I can have it everyday I would.
I love making bananas smoothies, toppings on my sandwich, puddings or just a regular fruit juice.

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of fresh milk when I was a kid but as I grew older I found out that I actually love milk. Not only the chocolate ones but also the fresh full cream ones as well. I drink them with coffee, smoothies, puddings, cereal and also for my scrambled eggs. The full cream ones are always the best. Rich in calcium and taste creamier. I would not suggest the low fat ones as I understand from a few of my friends that they usually use chemicals to make it low fat so that's a no-no for me.

First Aid Course (Search & Rescue) in Maliau Basin, Sabah.

Last week, I was in Maliau Basin for a First Aid Course with 2 other instructors from Fieldskills.(Ropeskills is a sister company to Fieldskills)

We were there to train the staffs aka tree climbers/R.A (Researcher Assistant) the basics of First Aid and proper way to perform a Search & Rescue in the wild.  Maliau Basin is filled with different types of species of trees and scientist/researchers from all over the world comes to Maliau to do their research and studies. That's where the R.As have to be there to assist them and to ensure their safety as well.

(Day 1)

Didn't do anything much on the first day as we arrived pretty late and it was already getting dark.
Unpacked and sorted out my things for the next day. It was a funny experience knowing that power would be cut off from 12am till 7am everyday and at first I didn't get use to it but eventually I did. 
It was quite cold and chilly at night.

(Day 2)

Woke up early and got ready for breakfast. One thing I loved about Maliau was you have to hike EVERYWHERE you go. Up and down the stairs to every place you need to go. 
Glad I still got to do some work out while I was away from home.

We started the class with a total of 22 students and 3 instructors including me.
Everyone was from everywhere in Sabah and it was quite fun getting to know them.

Many were quite confused but glad they managed to cope.

 (Day 3)

Today is all about Team work. 
Here is where we teach them the proper way to recognize a fractured spine and how to deal with the problem. With this, they would know what to do when it really happens some day.

After a quick lesson on that, we gave them a scenario where they have to search for the victim in one of the trails and they have to find out what happen to the victim.

The situation was his head got hit by something and was bleeding a lot, a snake bite on his right leg and a broken leg on the left. Everyone had to perform according to what they were thought.

After all that, we head back into the class to brief them more on dealing with snake bites and fractures.
Had to teach them the proper way to wrap and bandage and thank God they finally knew what to do.

After the class ended, I was brought to visit the Belian Camp
There I finally got a chance to cross the famous Maliau Suspension Bridge and also to see Sungai Maliau. It was such a breathtaking moment to be on the bridge and to listen to the water going down the stream.

 I even heard 12 years ago, Simon Amos  (Owner and founder of Ropeskills)  had set up his own trail which was called Belian Trail. 

 I hope to be back in Maliau to explore this trail someday.

(Day 4)

Final day of the course and this is the day we teach them how to use a compass and ways to perform a Search & Rescue in the forest. It was definitely my favourite part of the course as I was learning fast on how to do this as well. Something new for me and it was definitely one of the most important thing for me to know as well for future purposes.

When everything was done, lunch was over, it was time for the final scenario of the day before heading home. Search and Rescue as a full team to save a victim missing in the woods.

Everyone did so well for the course and I definitely can't wait to go back to Maliau again if I have a chance to do so. It was a very good learning experience for me and from there, I actually learn to appreciate what I have now as in Maliau, there were not much electricity, water, phones with no reception and also I was pretty lonely staying alone in the room.
